The Hellenic Institute of Marketing The Hellenic Institute of Marketing was created in 1975 within the HMA framework. It is the oldest Institute and constitutes the main collective expression and representation of people in Marketing, people who believe in the constant and substantial upgrading of its creative role in the economic and social life of the country, and who work systematically towards this direction through multiform services and activities. The following are the allocated objectives of the Institute:
- The promotion of the concept of Marketing and the importance of its implementation professionally and scientifically in the businesses and organizations that operate in Greece.
- The development of relationships and creative communication between people involved professionally and scientifically in the field of Marketing and their colleagues abroad.
- The promotion of the exchange of knowledge, points of view and Marketing experience at national and international levels.
- The contribution toward the development of high professional awareness in Marketing executives.
- The study of the educational and post-graduate education needs in the Marketing field, and the contribution toward covering these needs effectively.
- The creation of a linkup between the academic field and Greek businesses with regards to issues concerning the field of Marketing.
The Institute has approximately 1700 members.
The following may be accepted for membership in the Hellenic Institute of Marketing:
- Medium, senior and top-ranking executives actively engaged in Marketing.
- Researchers and Consultants involved in Marketing
- Professors and Scientists of Educational Institutions involved in teaching and research in the field of Marketing.
- Graduate students of Higher and Professional Technical Education Institutions (from 2nd year onward).
The following are the established annual activities of the Institute:
- Marketing Week
- Participation in the European Quality Week
- Philip Morris Marketing Prize (in cooperation with Philip Morris)
- EFFIES Awards Hellas (in cooperation with the Hellenic Association of Advertising Companies, The Advertisers' Association of Greece, the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Association of Opinion Poll and Market Research Companies.
The Students' Section: The students' section is administered by a Coordinating Committee which is elected annually and organizes visits to companies as well as activities of interest to the student-members.
Regional Sections: Branches of the Institute operate in Macedonia, Thessaly, Crete and the Peloponnese. The Institute is one of the founding and active members of the European Marketing Confederation (EMC) and it has signed cooperation protocols with the following organizations: American Marketing Association - AMA, Chartered Institute of Marketing - CIM, NIMA (Holland), Japan Marketing Association, ADICO (Italy), Czech Institute of Marketing, Hungarian Marketing Association, Australian Marketing Association, Marketing Institute of Singapore, Hong Kong Institute of Marketing, Philippines Marketing Association, Thailand Institute of Marketing.
